Kaiser-i-hind Medal

Dear all

I did ask for help some time ago regarding that mysterious award
the KAISER-I-HIND MEDAL that a number of theosophists gained, but
without concrete result. We have established that it has nothing
to do with Germany in spite of the name, but probably Britain.

Is there a subscriber to this estimable facility that is resident
in Britain who would be willing to help us locate data so that we
can write an entry on the medal for our encyclopedia? It might be
possible that some such organisation as an Historical Society
might offer some clues. A typical reference is in the
Theosophical year Book, 1938 which records the award of the
Kaiser-i-Hind gold medal to Mrs. Aiyar Chandrashekara (member of
the TS in India) for philanthropic services.

We would like to know:-

1. How it was intiated (inaugurated); date, place, and by whom.

2. What were the conditions under which it was awarded.

3. If possible a list a persons to whom it has been awarded.

4. When did it cease to be awarded and why.

5. Any other relevant information.

Help will be very much appreciated.

Philip S. Harris
