Dear Sophia:

Glad to hear the Theosophy is alive and well in Bangalore. I just forgot
about the
Indian Institute of World Culture. It was years ago when I lived in
Bangalore and Theosophical situation appears to be the same as it was then.
While I had attended some of the lectures at ULT, I was then a very shy
young person that I did not get into personal contact with anyone there. I
had gone to the other two branches of TS(Adyar) and the one (a dormant one)
at Malleswaram 7th cross which owned a small one room building. City branch
always well fed those who showed up (some times they took the entire gang
out of town to a branch which had some special meeting and fed them as well)
and the active backbone is a group of members who are in business. 50-75
years ago, it attracted a large number of people from the business community
(Vaishya Community) because the branch and its members practiced Brotherhood
in real sense and it was a place where the alpha and omega mingled on a
level and it appears that their descendants are continuing the same.

Glad to hear about the Special Meeting at ULT and the classes and should be
congratulated for keeping the Theosophical flame alive in Bangalore.

As for my visiting India, I don't see it in the cards in the near future
since all my close family is here and we don't have any property interests
in India. Who knows some opportunity may show up and if so I will let you
know. The years I spent in Bangalore were some of the most enjoyable ones
and I have a lot old acquaintances there.

By the way, I just learnt that Internet has been de-regulated in India which
is going to make it more affordable and accessible to a lot of users and
should not be surprised if many from India join this list and take active part.
