Dallas offers:

In my study of karma every child that is born has an Egoic
connection (through karma) with both father and mother. It is
terribly difficult to find out the causes of the problem, and we
are not given any keys to accessing with accuracy our past lives,
or the past lives of others who are more directly or less
directly affected.

That is the bare bones dealing with the past.

The present and the future show that there is a continuing
responsibility of the present parents to the Ego that is now
encased in an incapacitated body. The settling of karma then
lies largely in the hands and the decisions of the parents.

What do compassion and self-sacrifice dictate ?

I am kinda new to the world of Theosophy, but a few questions
have come
into my head from some of the material that I have been exposed
to. Maybe
some of you will be able to offer some guidance...

If a husband and wife have a child who has downs syndrom, who
is the one
that is the one being effected by the negative Karma? Does the
father or
mother search their soul for the negative things that has gone on
before or
is it the child who thinks he is at fault.. if he can think
that way....
