The IG teachings state it well.  But why does it so state?
 
As to the KEY.  I would say that we cannot be selective.  Also you are right, it is a problem with our interpretation.

Dallas, your quotes don't help us much, because I use the same source.
Perhaps its in the interpretation? Remember that HPB also says that
golden chains are as binding as iron, and that all karma must be
dissolved (Inner Group Teachings).
