Jerry,

I can see what you mean here. I would put it that an Adept, having reached
that stage through many 'trials' and 'stages' on the path, and having merged
his consciousness in the Universal Soul, realises that all separateness is
an illusion. But simply to state that everything is Maya doesn't make one
an Adept, nor remove the issue that 'someone' has to travel the path.

We've obviously got a 'crossed wire here'. So I'll have one last go. Let's
agree everything is 'karmic' and it includes physical, emotional, mental
aspects and so on. We may refer to all this as personal / individual /
Collective. Yet the Law of Karma itself is impersonal and 'acts' whether or
not we believe in it. And this was the *analogy* with the Law of Gravity.

If by our silly actions (the cause) we fall off the edge of a cliff and
break a leg (the effect) this is obviously personal suffering. But the law
of gravity itself is not personal. It is neutral in respect to us and
'acts' (ie it 'made' us fall) regardless of whether or not we believe it.
Just like electricity. If we stick our finger in the electric wall socket
we will get a big shock which will cause suffering. If we run electricity
through an element it will provide us with warmth and therefore pleasure.
Our beliefs, understandings may shape how well we work with these laws, but
the Laws themselves our impersonal / neutral.

Peter
