As we live in a free world everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Having said that, the fact of the matter as latter events confirmed, it was
a bad mistake for US to have gotten itself involved in the Vietnam war.

Those who have lost their loved ones or lost their limbs and came back
crippled, the question what was it for that all the suffering they had to
endure. In addition, all one needs to see is the suffering that the
Vietnamese have gone through.

Recently I saw a documentary on Vietnam which made me aware how US pushed
for the premier of the South Vietnam who was a RC and RCs were a minority
in a predominantly Buddhist country and how he did not have the backing of
the masses.

Vietnam also demonstrated that Vietnamese (driven by their nationalism) can
with their ingenuity fight the Western military which had high tech
weapons. We do not see no more of any talk about the inferiority of
Vietnamese compared to the people of the Western nations.

So hats off to those men and women and countries who sensed during Vietnam
that Vietnam adventure was a fundamentally wrong one when the official
propaganda machine tried to silence the masses with such opiates like
anti-communism, patriotism etc.
