Subject: Theos-World Theosophical matters

Dallas has posted some interesting quotes.

They made me think.

On the issue of sex there is a reference by one of the Adepts
regarding the
role of elementals. Is it possible that nothing much is discussed
because
more information relating to their role and the mechanics can in the
wrong
hand cause a lot of destruction for the person and others as well.

DTB.	Anything that relates to choice affects the elementals -- they
are the "little-lives" or "atomic-lives" -- they are receptive of our
desires, motives and thoughts. they convey the Karmic aspect of our
choices forward. their return to us brings either assistance or the
distortion that is consequent on a violation of Nature's cooperative
laws. The elementals become the "skandhas or samskaras" the moment
they are affected by the moral quality of our thoughts and feelings --
are they selfish and isolationist, or are the universal and
impersonal -- and how would w like to meet again anything generated
by us? Thus we manufacture our own Karmic assistance or hindrance for
the future. The hands that smite us are our own. And yet we seek to
evade the responsibilities that are ours all the time.

The sex-act is an important one as the marks left are the those
consequences that are long-term ones, if the theosophical views are
true and exact. They may not be palatable. But ARE THEY TRUE ?
----------------------

There is also the issue of wrong beliefs. There is a comment that A P
Sinnett does not have any beliefs and it is easy to deal with such a
person
even though he may be eating meat and using alcohol. On the other
hand,
there is the comment about 10s of 1000s of people leading a "clean"
life -
vegetarian, tee totaler, chaste conduct etc but having wrong beliefs
which
attract very powerful influences and the Adepts choose not to waste
energy
in dealing with them.

DTB.	Beliefs are either "blind" (unreasoned) or "enlightened" (fully
proved to one's satisfaction.) Many of the things we were taught in
school and college are accepted because we trust the "authority."
Later we may find out that the teaching and the "authority" were
faulty. Experience shows that in all important things we ought to get
our facts clear and full before we make DECISIONS. We ought to be
more wary than we normally are.
---------------------------------------------

Is there a connection between the two? Are elementals play a role in
the
latter also? If this be so, what about "theosophical" beliefs -- blind
beliefs resulting from a wrong understanding of theosophical doctrines
as
written by many authors HPB down to the current day authors? Could it
be
that the lack of dynamism in today's theosophical movement be due to
the
wrong beliefs and gimmicks fostered by current pundits and swallowed
by
gullible/non thinking followers -- blind following the blind both
falling
into the ditch?

DTB	Each one of us has to consider the propositions (NOT Dogmas or
Beliefs) that theosophy advances most carefully and fully. Many of
the propositions of Theosophy show a different approach from those
that we have learned in our education. Why ? what is the difference?
If we are able to discern that then we will have discovered a
"touchstone" which is most precious. HPB declared that the moral
universe of LAW -- Karma -- exists and operates incessantly -- it is
the educative aspect of Nature. Everything without exception is
enveloped by this ever-acting and rigidly exact LAW.

To offer that is also dangerous to the person who makes the offer --
because it sounds like a Dogma. But, to offer a method of research --
that at least gives the recipient the freedom of doing his own
verification.

That is what theosophy does.

As to the nature of "teachings". HPB claimed (and the Mahatmas
approved) that she was bringing in "Theosophy" the wisdom of those
ancient Rishis and Sages of the world.

After HPB's presentation, others came forward to "simplify" or :"to
make them easy." If anyone today desires to find out if the writings
and ideas of those who FOLLOWED HPB are in exact line with the
ORIGINAL Message of Theosophy -- they have to do their own research.
Nothing else will have much validity, because it is only adding one
unverified "belief" to others.

Theosophy is not a matter of "sentiment." It requires no loyalty.
This may sound strange, but one will notice that HPB at all points
insisted on individual search, testing and proving and repeatedly
stated that her words were not to be taken as authoritative -- they
were only to be considered the words of one who desired to assist
others. Hence, she presented the Teachings of the Wise. and she and
they asked that we do our own thinking about them. ]

But it (Theosophy as a system of information, history and logic)
demands that honest search and proving be pursued by the sincere
devotee who desires to FIND IT. No amount of lip devotion or of
rituals and ceremonies will do the work. One cannot get a "gift" of
wisdom. One has to take the concepts into one's mind and there and
then work to see if they are true.

Thanks Doss
