That old mahatma, Nisi Kanta Chattopadhyana (aka KH)

[To] Daniel:

Very interesting. The next question would then be
whether NKC never took time to visit his homeland in
the whole time he was studying, or whether he spent
that whole time in Europe. Persons of Indian origin
whom I have known go to great trouble and expense to
vitis the homeland periodically, and this seems to be
in the Indian character. After all, India is a
spiritual as well as a genetic homeland.

There would have been nothing to prevent him from
packing some books and working on his dissertation or
whatever during the boat and train rides required.

So (1) is there evidence NKC never visited India
during the entire time from 1875-1880, or, more
pertinently, is there evidence KH was in India the
whole time between 1875-1880? Another question has to
do with when NKC was in Amritsar. Is there evidence
this journey was for sure a recent experience, or
might it have taken place some time before 1880?

Bear in mind that I am not arguing but merely raising
points of evidence.

Sat Nam,

SS
