A Serious Question to Leon and Dallas

by Blavatsky Archives

The following statement is collated from two of Dr. Gregory Tillett's
emails recently posted to Theos Talk:

"3. Who actually has controlled the ULT throughout its development,
and how? . . .

"Question (3) relates to the REAL history - as opposed to the VAGUE
historical statements - of the ULT. No organization operates without
leadership and systems of power and control, and those that deny they
have such systems are inevitably more rigidly controlled by those who
actually hold the 'non-existent' positions of authority.

"I do not in any way denigrate the work (or, particularly, the
publications) of the ULT, but I would venture to suggest that the
public relations position it takes simply MISREPRESENTS the
reality. . . .

"In REAL terms, the ULT has always possessed a power structure and
leadership as strong - indeed, arguably stronger since its existence
is CONCEALED - than any other Theosophical Society. Indeed, a 1938
court case held that the ULT was a business belonging to the then
leader, John Garrigues. The Parent Lodge of the ULT is Los Angeles
has always been the DE FACTO power centre. . . . " Caps added.

Dear Leon and Dallas,

These are strong statements by Dr. Tillett and I have no good reasons
to doubt his statements.

It would appear that Dr. Tillett is saying the very OPPOSITE of what
the two of you have been writing on this forum. Are the two of you
telling me and other students of Theosophy present here on Theos Talk
that in fact it is Dr. Tillett who is misrepresenting the "reality"
and the "truth" about the United Lodge of Thesophists?

I have studied organizations (their structures, dynamics, etc.) for
30 years especially religious/philosophical organizations and I must
agree with Dr. Tillett that "No organization operates without
leadership and systems of power and control."

Leon and Dallas, are you asking us to believe that the ULT is the one
and only exception to this rule among all organizations?

Hoping that your answers will be straightforward and to the point.

Daniel
