Early History in Boston

Dallas,

The TSB does not have records of its own early history in Boston and we do
not know what happened to those records. We do have a certificate that is
framed and hanging in our lecture hall that is the official document, signed
by Annie Besant, that grants the TSB its charter in 1922. But there is
evidence that there were theosophical societies operating in Boston prior to
that time, such as the evidence that you are offering.

About 10 years ago, I went to a Emanual Swedenborg Church at Harvard Square
to hear a lecture about the famous Harvard psychologist, William James, and
the speaker said that James had been a member of the TS. So, the early
Boston chapters apparently had some notable people.

Regards,

Zack

Dear Zack:

Tell me, do you have in your early history the record of the
THEOSOPHICAL SOCIETY American Section Convention under which the
THEOSOPHICAL SOCIETY in A was formed? I think it was 1895 or 6.
I have the old volumes of PATH and they give some detail. But
perhpas you could fill me out with a little more.

Also I believe that around that time Robert Crosbie was president
or secretary of the Boston branch -- any records or clues ?

Best wishes,

Dallas
