Hi All,

I apologize in advance if this is off topic but it is Theosophical history
and I am very much hoping one of you may be able to help me. My name is Dave
Kyle and I am on a genealogical quest to learn more about my great
grandmother, Mildred Kyle.

Mildred Kyle was very active in the early Theosophical Society and is listed
as having been president (and perhaps founder) of the Narada Theosophical
Society in Tacoma, Washington in 1903. She is again listed as being
president of the Theosophical Society in Portland, Oregon from 1914 through
1920. It is my understanding that she continued her membership with the
Theosophical Society in Seattle until her death in 1954.

Her daughter May Florence Kyle is also known to be a Theosophist and is
listed as the librarian of Theosophical Society in Portland Oregon in 1918.
May later married Andrew Willatsen, a famous architect in the Seattle area,
and an early draftsman for Frank Lloyd Wright. Andrew Willatsen was also a
Theosophist and did some work on the Theosophical Society building in
Seattle.

Mildred was also involved with Max Heindel's first book and the founding of
the Rosicrucian Fellowship as can be gathered from the translated excerpt
from the "Memories" of Mrs. Heindel. "He had a very dear friend in Portland,
Mrs. Mildred Kyle, to whom had sent the book that he was writing. She was so
pleased with this work that she began to use it in her classes. She also
obtained two experienced editors that helped him to check the book
completely. It was she who encouraged him to return to the West Coast. Also
she promised to Max Heindel when the manuscript was finished she would
interest ten friends who would each donate one hundred dollars to contribute
to the printing of this valuable work."

Most interesting is my recent finding her being listed in the Upper
Meherabad Cemetery very near the tomb of Meher Baba. Knowing that Mildred
passed away on 8 Sep 1954 in Myrtle Beach, Horry Co., SC, I soon discovered
that was the location of the Meher Spiritual Center. Also interesting is
that the person listed as having given the information on Mildred's death
certificate is none other than Elizabeth Patterson, one of the founders of
the Meher Spiritual Center and also present in the Upper Meherabad Cemetery.

I would sincerely appreciate any information you can offer that might add to
my knowledge of Mildred Kyle.

Thank you for your kind attention,

Dave
