While I find errors in their processes, the literature of the various
skeptic societies give some good ways of critically assessing psychic
phenomena. I once tried to help Scientific American get a bunch of
volunteers for a Therapeutic Touch test, but I couldn't (the major
reason was, believe it or not, because James Randi approved the
tests!!!!).
