In defense of Eldon, I should make it clear that US First Amendment law
protects unmoderated mailing lists and their owners from most legal action
which does not involve copyright and US courts will not enforce any foreign
judgement that is in conflict with First Amendment law. This has been the
practice particularly in response to attempts to use UK libel laws against
postings originating in the US and in light of Reno v. Aclu (1998) which
clearly extended the full range of First Amendment protection to the internet
there is no chance of any such foreign judgement being recognized by the US
courts.

Chuck the Heretic (who has to know such things because several of his e-books
are in total violation of several European nations domestic laws)
