RE: The cause of the whole manvantara

Dear Steve:

Patanjali said: "The whole Universe exists for the Soul's
experience." But then we have to know what the SOUL is in order
to determine what the CAUSE is.

Theosophy defines it as an aspect of the Spirit, and the bridge
between Spirit and Matter. It has an independence of its own,
and I would logically trace that to the source of ALL, or
THAT -- (SAT). It might be called by some, the indefinable
ABSOLUTE. But that would involve another set of metaphysical
explanations involving the pluralities that succeed the emanation
that produces the successive evolutionary Manvantaras of
experience in which the immortal SOULS develop.

The question, as I see it, is not of time for any one individual
(assuming you agree that the INDIVIDUALITY (Atma-Buddhi-Manas) is
truly IMMORTAL, but, rather, of the whole mass of individualized
MONADS -- each an immortal (see S D I 619 TO 634).

If the Theosophical overview is descriptive of an ongoing
process, then the process is continuous for as long as there are
Monads to transit from "ignorance" to wisdom. I believe H P B
says in S D I 632 that there is a "Monadic Essence" as source
for individualized Monads. And no limits in time or space appear
to be set to this "essence."

Probably there are successive Manvantaras in the Past, as well as
a long succession of future Manvantaras to come.

But as I understand this "process" it has always existed, and we
are a continuing part of it.

What term can we assign to the longevity of Spirit, or of WISDOM
derived from infinite experiences (Budhi) or of the capability of
Perception that is primary to Manas ?

My present personal mental powers will come to an end when this
body (physical) is no longer able to keep going. But that does
not men the effort to learn and t observe stops. How does it
happen that we wake up morning after morning and find ourselves
after several hours of "oblivion" back to using the brain-mind we
use as our communication and perceptive tool when we are awake?

Physiology and psychology have yet to explain this fact. It is
of course observed repeatedly, but the underlying reason for its
even and our present existence remain to be made clear and
precise.

At least that is how I see it.

Best wishes,

Dallas

Peter: "The idea that our ignorance is the one thing
that keeps "the whole manvantara" going seems somewhat
exoteric and superficial, if not simply grandiose.
Will the entire Manvantara and all the future
Manvantaras, the periodical and regular manifestations
of the One Self Existing Reality (i.e. Parabrahm) all
come to an end when we truly realise we are not
separate from one another?

The traditional response to this question is: "samsara
is nirvana and nirvana is samsara."
