Dear Andy:

Of course -- questions lead to more.

If you have access to the KEY TO THEOSOPHY (HPB) are you also researching
there ?

Let me put in some notes below in your text

Best wishes,

Dallas

Subject: essence of evil. From where? Is it personified?

Dear Dallas,

thanks for your explanation, it awakes in me further questions!

We have a choice between good and evil. How is it possible according to
Blavatsky (and that is not exactly the same as according to theosophy by the
way) that the person as part of the monad chooses often evil?

============================================

DTB ONE PART OF THE MONAD represents inexperience and consequent
ignorance. The MONAD interior to each of us is dual, nay, triple. It
consists of 1. a teaching and 2. a learning and 3. an observing entity
that is alive. It is a THREE IN ONE actually. [ Have you seen my other
posts recently on this subject? ]

Apparently the purpose of the Monads in the entire Universe is the constant
urge from within to have the Universe become entirely SELF-CONSCIOUS. That
mean that through the independent choice of each Monad they have to decide
whether to become DIVINE and spiritual, or to remain SELFISH and MATERIAL.
this determination or “fight” has been going on wince “time” began --
eternally, and will continue to do so. All I can say for my self is that I
recognize that I am in this opposition and can understand how the rest of
the Universe and our world of things and of mankind are also in such a
position. We have to struggle to become CONSCIOUSLY DIVINE.

The range of Monads in the Universe stretches from their inception, or,
individualization from the ocean of the MONADIC ESSENCE to the fully
developed and totally WISE BUDDHA or the MAHA-CHOHANS. Every Monad has to
pass eventually through the Human stage in order to reach beyond it to the
plane of ultimate PERFECTION

Briefly we could say that:

1. a great deal of time is spent by each of the eternal, immortal Monads in
acquiring experience and participating in the preliminary stages of: 1.
elementary, then, 2. mineral, then plant, then human stages -- human
stage represents the mid-way point as a great deal of time is spent there
learning all the LAWS of Nature and after understanding those, it spends
time in training the aggregation of Monads of lesser experience that
surround it the same pathway of information and learning that it has so far
taken.

Andy
You say that somewhere along the line the breaking of law became a matter of
deliberation and a selfish pleasure for perverted beings. What could
possibly have caused this? (the existence of perverted beings and normal
beings who sometimes choose evil.)

========================

DTB When one secures freedom several choices arise ( those choices have
always been there as potentials, now they can be expressed and made active )

1. The bondage, whether physical, emotional, mental or of
“ignorance” is loosened.

2. The limits are gone and the choice is to be made as to direction
and procedure.

3. The surroundings are to be surveyed for advantages, obstacles,
assistants, and potential obstacles -- physically, morally, emotionally
mentally etc…)

4. A Plan has to be made.

5. The accuracy and practicality of such a PLAN will depend on how
much the individual knows of his environment, and of his own powers and
capacities. 1. We can look at our environment and see LAW and LAWS
OPERATING IN IT. 2. We can look and see that sometimes Laws operate and
sometimes they do not seem to be there. 3. We can look and think that NO
LAW is in operation ( which is false -- as the general laws of nature
support us all, and we cannot avoid them )

6. If possible time ought to be devoted to a careful study of
possibilities and directions, and potential dangers and problems. The
better that one equips ones’ self with this knowledge the more successful
with the future be.

7. One has first of all to determine what in us is the SURVIVOR. Is
it going to be:

1. the SPIRITUAL SELF (which is immortal, and
reincarnates from body to body), or,

2. will the Material Self try to gain a temporary
superiority -- a superiority based on selfishness,
tyranny, isolation, and the control of others -- and which terminates
when this body dies ?

3. The first thing to decide is which is most important:
the IMMORTAL SOUL or the perishable BODY, and the
Selfish personality.

======================================

ANDY
You say many oppose the Law because out of fear. What could have caused this
'not knowing' (can't find the right English word!) that their freedom will
not be at stake.

=================================

DTB The “not knowing” is like the ignorance of the immortal spiritual
SOUL of a young child which is now incarnated in a NEW BODY. It has to
first become the master of that body and of its potentials. It has to
accept or change its character (temperament, someone said) and it has to
become master of the LOWER MIND.

There is always some time spent in learning how to use a new tool. A new
body -- that of the child is like a new tool.

Theosophy teaches that there is a Karmic relationship between the old
personality that died and the new one which it now enters to live another
life of experience and progress.

The Karma that helps us to find and use the new body is the direct
relationship with all the old habits and ways of thinking we used in our
past lives. The best analogy is to think of the SPIRITUAL SOUL as the
intelligence of a child in this incarnation who goes day after day to school
to learn. Every day succeeds the rest and brings with it the memories and
the abilities that are learned -- so is it also with reincarnation. m We are
the ETERNAL STUDENTS -- all ETERNAL PILGRIMS and the School is the SCHOOL OF
LIFE.

I am looking forward to your or others new answers which I am sure will
enlighten me more but will awaken also still more questions in me.

With friendly greeting:

*Andy*
