Dear Adelasie:

I think that is well said -- they don't read.

They come to Theosophy with prejudice.
They flit around the externals and latch on to a few key phrases
(out of context) and then release some pent up opinions which are
adverse. Absolutely lovely. Gentle, firm and yet direct -- far
more effective than what I write.

Your writing reminds me of what Judge wrote in LETTERS THAT HAVE
HELPED ME ( p. 39) -- end of Letter 11 :

"Violent control is not so good as gentle control, continuous and
firmly unrelaxed...Gentleness is better because an opposition
current is always provoked, and, of course, if that which
produces it is gentle, it will also be the same."

I write and if I have time, I revise and try to impersonalize
and generalize -- but am not always successful. And sometimes my
computer actually rejects what I write and refuses to send it
!!!!! -- So I thank the "Dhyanis" and try to see where it ought
to be rewritten. Happens often enough that it is quite
remarkable. One wonders !!!!!!!

But As You Wisely Say: THEY WON'T READ. If they were patient
and did so, then what a change they would introduce.

Now in the next paragraph of that letter, Mr. Judge says: "
Every situation ought to be taken as a means. This is better
than philosophy, for it enables us to know philosophy. ...nor
ache to puzzle your brains with another's notions. You have the
key to self and that is all; take it and drag out the lurker
inside....Increase your confidence, not in your abilities, but in
the All being thyself." ( pp 39-40 LETTERS THAT HAVE HELPED
ME )

You so gently chide and yet guide her if she will allow it, and
follow your lead. I'm afraid I'm more "brutal."

But I try

Best wishes and many thanks,

Dal

Dear Brigitte,

Reading your questions I can't help wondering if you have read
the
writings of HPB herself. She left quite a lucid trail of
information
about many subjects, including herself, if you include letters
etc. I
don't think theosophists try to prevent anyone from finding out
anything about HPB. Theosophists print, publish, read and discuss
the material she provided. Perhaps you could answer your own
questions with a bit of reading. It would keep you busy for some
time, but it is very rewarding. As with most occult subjects, you
have to read with your heart as well as your eyes open, and allow
your own intuition to make some bridges between what you think
you know and what you are learning. But we are all involved in
this
process, and it gets more interesting, the longer one pursues it.
