In H.P. Blavatsky's article just posted on this forum
[
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/theos-talk/message/6453
], she writes about the "most startling phase of
Western mediumistic phenomena--'materialization,' "

Interested readers might want to read and carefully
study Dr. Stephen E. Braude's book THE LIMITS OF
INFLUENCE, revised edition published 1997. Available
in paperback from http://amazon.com

The three relevant chapters from Braude's book are:

Chapter 1, "The Importance of Non-Experimental
Evidence", pp. 1-52
Chapter 2, "Physical Mediumship: Two Classic Cases",
pp. 53-129
Chapter 3, "Physical Mediumship: Miscellaneous
Mediums", pp. 131-155.

Here is a scholarly, thoughtful and indepth look at
the subject of "physical mediumship" that Blavatsky
wrote about in her 1880 article.

"...Contrast alone can enable us to appreciate things at
their right value; and unless a judge compares notes and
hears both sides he can hardly come to a correct decision."
