Here is another perspective to the topic of ahimsa and himsa.

Light is ahimsa (harmless) to those who are good. Light is himsa 
(harmful only in its transformational quality of destroying the 
darkness) to those who are evil.

One can use the light (aka energy) to build or to destroy. Think 
about it.
