Re: supreme enlightenment

Dear Daniel and Friends:

There are many ways of translating the untranslatable, how
can the limited view of a mind that is embodied in matter
express the VISION of the infinite and ultimate? Perhaps
because it has links to Buddhi and Atma, the 6th and 7th
"principles" it is occasionally possible for such an
experience to occur. One then wonders what are the Karmic
paths of an individual that permit this? Under what laws
does this event take place ? Is it a universal experience,
or is it occasional?

There are no words and no analogies that such limited means
(our embodied mind experiences - as memories) afford. And
yet there is a sense, a "feeling," a residual memory (?) of
an "experience." Let me offer what I have gleaned from
Theosophy on this:

In Theosophy it is assumed that the limited Mind
(Kama-Manas) can by dint of great effort and
"self-purification" (ethically, morally and mentally) obtain
such a vision. But how can it be described to others who
have not had the experience? Is it ? : -- A LIGHT, a
GLOW, a pervasive SPHERE (?) -- in which the personal
apprehends the WHOLE as an infinite HIRANYAGARBHA --
something similar to the "Egg of Brahma?"

As the 7th PRINCIPLE of Man, (as of every other being from
individual "life-atom" (monad) to Galaxy) is the same ONE
UNIVERSAL SPIRIT -- ATMAN -- it is the purified Personality
glimpsing for a moment the UNIVERSE, and yet, knowing it is
separate from and within THAT. In the BHAGAVAD GITA
(Chapter 10, 11) Krishna the teacher gives Arjuna, the
pupil, the DIVINE EYE -- with which to view the Universe.
And yet such a vision overloads finite synonyms of
expression. Only the fragmentary memory of this remains to
be seen at will, and meditated on.

I notice that H P B in TRANSACTIONS OF THE BLAVATSKY LODGE
(BC W Vol. 10) describing the field of consciousness we call
"Deep sleep" says that the personal Ego at night, in this
condition, may visit and "confabulate" with the HIGHER SELF
(ATMA within). We wake up and infrequently have some slight
memory of such dialogs. Is there a way in which we can
increase or amplify these ?

So in a sense it is static and dynamic simultaneously. May
we hazard a guess? perhaps it is the mysterious Monad which
is both universal and individual, which is to be found at
the same time and place, the unapprehendable, indescribable
SPIRIT and the limited PERSONALITY- our embodied Mind.
Perhaps it is described as ATMA -- BUDDHI in a forever
UNITY. Is it a MONAD that is both unitary and dual ?

Just an idea,

Dallas

Subject: " . . . the supreme enlightened ( so far we can
ascertain ) are *not* very creative. . . . "

Arvan Harvat in "The Atman Fiasco" writes:

"Weakness of this argument lies in the very contradiction
enshrined in Wilber's central dogma: he equates supreme
enlightenment ( described mainly in Ch'an/Zen and Advaita
Vedanta terms ) with supreme creativity. . . ."

"The problem is that the supreme enlightened ( so far we
can ascertain ) are *not* very creative, let alone dwelling
on the summit of such activity. On the contrary, one
might cynically observe that trademarks of vita
unitiva/sahaja samadhi/baqa,

judging from lives of Ramana Maharshi, legendary Bodhidharma
or Suso are
lethargy, apathy or asocial quietism."
