Terrie,
About your mention of affinity with Math, if you have not read already
I recommend
a work by a Hindu Yogi: Vedic Mathematics by Jagadguru Swami Sri
Bharati
Krsna Tirthaji Maharaja, Shankaracharya of Ooyardhana Matha,
Puri-1965.

Published by Hindu Vishvavidyalaya Sanskrit Publication Board
Banaras Hindu University
Varinasi-5
as:Hindu Vishvavidyalaya Nepal Rajya Sanskrit Series Vol. 10

In Forest Retreat and composed upon the Mandala of the Rig Veda this
Yogi
recovered an ancient Numeric internal to the Rig Veda and a Mathematical
System which numerates 1-9, a streamlined mental computational methodry
which unburdened the mind resources and energy to productive calculation
which if it were taught to western school students achievement scores
would go sky-high as well as the spirits of the selfsame students.

John
P. S.: I do believe I have seen the work in republication in paperback
at stores
like Dalton and New Age Book shops.
