Memory its acquisition and use ? Do we exist or not ?

Thanks Terrie:

There is a great deal of enjoyment to reach out to those who try to do
the same work.

Looking at the "memory function" of the mind is interesting.

I asked about what one thinks.

Some things are "forgotten" as soon as looked at. ( But hypnosis
shows that some portion of our memory apparatus "archives" them. We
have not yet learned how to retrieve this for use -- or we would all
have "photographic memories." Some things by an effort of will we
inscribe almost indelibly on our memories for retrieval on demand.
But, as one grows older, and parts of the brain apparatus deteriorate,
even these fade. I find written notes to be more trustworthy. I mean
if one wants to be accurate in quoting. The capacity to reason and to
juxtapose philosophical and factual material seems to increase as one
grows older (if used).

I am convinced that our Universe is law-ruled and we have a legitimate
place to work and play in.

Some people like to play with words or ideas, and find it difficult
(apparently) to cross the nets that hang between religious
philosophies (old and new), and practical disciplines or methods,
relating to current thought. How does the past and the present meet?
Are there any guide-lines from the past that may prove of use now?

Strangely I find some who even question their own existence? Are they
what ? When one runs out of physical material, then what do we have
? Astral material, etheric substance, thought material, etc... ?
All whisps of the mind if not of a clouded stratosphere. And yet, we
live, we write we talk, we think and we are able to exchange views.
How valuable they prove to be depends on our power of interpretative
focus from the UNIVERSAL to the mundane, in the "here and now."

But curiously there is always a factor to consider. the moment we
say: NOW. -- that moment, the "now" becomes past -- and remains
as a more or less exact impression in the mind-memory tablet affair.

So we seem (each human that can think and reflect) to plough ahead as
minds, seeing to sense many potential futures -- and using those mind
creations, the IMAGINATION, for the making of present decisions
hich -- vanish into memories immediately. Now solve that as a
riddle. I've been puzzling over it for a long while. I know this body
will eventually wear out and then "die." But what happens to all the
work put into learning and thinking? does that persist ?
Is the SPIRIT reality? Does it persist? Is Reincarnation a fact ?
Is this universe purposeful? If so, what are its meanings. Why am I
here ? Where are we all going to ?

One ancient view was that Life is a dance, a play, a synchronized kind
of universal ballet in which all actors and players were responsible
to one-another and to the whole. Are they wraiths or real ?

A chaos it is not. Finding our own work and place is a life-long
task.

Best wishes,

Dallas

Dear Dallas,

Thanks very much for the lovely note. Yes, I do in fact hear you
quite clearly and I am in agreement with what you are saying. There
is in fact a great big difference between exploration and archiving.
Yes, I know this AND certainly, both activities are truly important
and I do believe in archiving and/or "future reference."

My opinion would be that the materials you archive/have archived and
that you continue to share help/aid and inspire many as to increasing
their own individual understandings. I believe these are important
tasks/accomplishments AND really very kindly considerations.

Have a BEAUTIFUL day,
Terrie
