Hi. I am going to answer this, point by point, as you have left an
interesting message.

Wry: I completely agree. This book is no longer time appropriate as a
religious text for large masses of people.

Wry: What you say here is the one part of your message that to me is highly
problematic and disturbed me when I read your original message. Who is to
decide that Madame B was the authority on this subject?

Wry: You are taking literally what was meant to be allegorical, which is, I
will acknowledge, one of the problems of this book, as many people do that.
But I contend that it is more a problem and tendency of the nature of people
than of this book. This is an interesting subject, that of allegorical
teaching, and it is actually one of my particular specialities. Maybe
someday I will go into this subject in depth on this list, if the atmosphere
ever gels into such that such a serious and important study can take place.

Wry. I so agree. Only mentioned the Bible because it is a spiritual book
which I assumed most westerners have read. None the less, in my opinion,
though no longer time appropriate, the Bible is a great book. The Gospel of
John, for example, contains some of the greatest spiritual writing of
humanity? Have you ever read this? Also, the Book of Revelations is most
amazing, and are some of the books of the Old Testament.

Wry: Agreed (not that us agreeeinng makes this be true).

Wry. Agreed.

Wry: Agreed.

Wry. I assumed that people on here know I am not doing that. I am going to
erase the second half of your message so this will not be so long, and maybe
I will try to respond to that part at another time. The Bible is one of the
greatest and most magnificent books of the Western World, in my opinion, and
I have gained immeasurable understanding from studying portions of this
book. (One thing you did not mention, by the way, is that some of the
translations, especially in my favorite, the King James, are innaccurate and
misleading). I do not believe the Bible is the word of God as that is most
ridiculous, nor do I believe that there is a primal cause for creation.
Sincerely, Wry
