Steve and All,
Well after a month or more of reading about the Mahatma's being
"Tibetan" I will
pop in my $.02 as inquiry in response.

My reading always seemed to me at least to have strongly indicated they
were
not Tibetan, although they frequented and were known to the Tibetan
Lama's. I
recall reading somewhere that they (the Mahatma's) were viewed by the
Tibetans
as "Elder Brothers" and that though they at times presented themselves at
certain
important occasion, presencing but not observing or taking active part in
the
particular Religious Observations and Rites normal to the Tibetan they
were aloof
but highly respected and their presense was highly regarded by the
Tibetans.

Perhaps one of our excellent Historian and Archivist such as Daniel or
Dallas might
find the references.

I myself always thought the Kashmir retreat and home of the Mahatma rang
true.

I also agree with your comment that anatta references the
"Conditioned-Patterned
Ego" or temporal persona of each present incarnative manifestation. I
would enjoy
your reference to specific citation of Buddhist Sutra in which the term
"Crypto Soul"
or it's equivalent analog is ti be found as I have not seen such term in
my exposures.

Just because the Mahatma's had been seen and in contact with those in
Tibet would
not in itself mean they were Tibetan any more the H. P. B. having related
seeing him
in London makes the Mahatma a Britain.

My Pleasant Regards,
John
