Dear Dot:

Re: Socrates

Here’s what I know or have been told:

>From what I was able to understand, Socrates had both the average
knowledge everyone enjoys but there was also some wisdom from his
Higher Self which came forth in his questions and arguments. He
was not "Initiated" in the Greek Mysteries, this was because he
had mediumistic tendencies and was unable to keep “secrets.”.

But those around him who were Initiates, detected he was letting
loose some of the knowledge that only pledged Initiates knew. H
P B says it was the NOUS ( Higher Manas) within him that
revealed those. (see below).

The rule was then that such knowledge was not to be revealed. If
revealed it was punishable by death.

Socrates was unaware of the fact he was trespassing.

[ see S D I 4, (daimon - 131), 611, S D II 419;
ISIS UNVEILED I xii. xiii-iv, xx-i., xxxv, 12, 114, 131, 256,
327, 482, 564, 582, 584, 593, 621;
ISIS UNVEILED II 8, ( as a medium and therefore not initiated
117), (why Socrates was put to death 118), (daimon same as the
NOUS 283-4), 406,

But he was a citizen loyal to the laws of Athens. (see APOLOGY)
and so he accepted the judgment and drank the hemlock as was
required.

In these days the rules seem to have changed as The SECRET
DOCTRINE reveals a great deal of what was a secret in the days of
Socrates. [ S D I xxi, 290, 299, 307, S D II 235, 396, 419;
Isis II 40, H P B Articles Vol. I p. 123, iii P. 282; Judge
LETTERS P. 218-22, ]

In ISIS UNVEILED in one place ( II 307) H P B states she was
given "permission" to reveal secrets hitherto hidden.

We must conclude that there was a change of cycle and this
revelation became useful for mankind as a whole

Love and best wishes,

Dallas
