Thanks Eldon.

I have installed and now use the same
NORTON ANTIVIRUS 2003 and SYSTEM WORKS 2003
on my computer during the mast month.

It protects by screening for works and viruses all IN and OUT
messages, and seems most efficient.

Subject: Theos-World email attachments and viruses

Email attachments have been blocked on theos-talk for several years.
This
has been to prevent the accidental spread of viruses. It often happens
that
a virus forges email headers, perhaps going through an infected
computer and
sending out messages to everyone in any address book it finds there.
Because
of this, it's not always possible to know from where a virus has come,
even
if the message says it's from this person or that mailing list.

I use Norton Antivirus 2003, which comes with Norton Systemworks 2003
Professional, an inexpensive package I'd recommend to anyone using
Windows.
One advantage of it is that you don't have to specifically set it up
to work
on each email program or account. It scans all incoming email traffic
regardless of which program it is going to, and captures viruses
before
they're read in emails. And it also scans all outgoing email traffic
regardless of which program is sending the email, protecting against
any
viruses unintentionally getting out from an infected computer.

Dallas and all,
Needless to say especially in these days and times installation
of a
Professional
Anti-virus Program is absolutely critical to help keep oneself
secure
and safe from
malicious attacks of Viruses, worms, Trojan Horses and a variety
of
other new
means that are endemic today. additionally I most vigorously
encourage

all the Anti- Virus Program is insufficient in today's world and one
should
as soon as possible
install a personal Firewall to complement your existing
Ant-Virus
Program. I have
several times in the recent months noticed activity when opening
e-mail on this Group List that my Firewall actively and repeatedly is
blocking "unused port blocking has blocked communication." It
identified
the
IP Address. Additionally set your
Browser Security Setting to highest level and keep it there. Use
full
maximum
allowed string length for your Passwords. Be always observant to
notice

"attachments" with e-mail and never open unless you know the sender
and also
have previous knowledge that they intended to send an attachment
to you,

if
necessary query the sender to confirm validity before opening
any
attachment.
There is a lot of activity that happened in the background while
each
of us is on
the Internet however none are aware of it unless you install a
Firewall that can
detail the second to second activity and attempts to penetrate
user
systems. Today
we are in the opening period of "Cyber-Warfare" my advise is "Be
Prepared."
