For Your Considerations:

The story written below; "The Rat Trap" perhaps offer us an opportunity to
look at ourselves in relationship to the present world conditions and war
and conflict in the Middle East. Each of the farm animals in the story
represents a part of human society. Can we see which animal is representing
us in our mentality and way of thinking? This, perhaps, may give a clearer
definition to what our responsibilities are as members of the human kind
upon this earth at this given moment in time. Can we look at this story as
well as this time in our lives from the view point of universal perspectives
and not just for the single individual life time that we are now
experiencing. The life after life after life ever evolving movement of the
life wave of human consciousness.

===== ===== =====

THE RAT TRAP

Once upon a time there lived in an old farm house in the country the rat
family. Daddy rat, momma rat , all of their little children and grand ma
and grad pa rat as well. One day the daddy rat over heard the farmers wife
talking about ordering a RAT TRAP! Of course daddy rat became very alarmed
and feared for his family and children. Soon the dreaded day came and the
RAT TRAP arrived it was opened and set up to catch the rat family inside the
farmer's home. Of course daddy rat told all the members of his family to be
extremely careful about going close to the trap and not be tempted by the
food that was placed inside the TRAP.

Daddy rat also went to talk to the other farm animals about the TRAP and his
deep concerns for his family. He first went to the chicken scratching in
the barn yard for seeds and said "Oh chicken what am I to do there is a RAT
TRAP inside the farmer's house to catch me and my family." The chicken
stopped briefly, looked up and said "Well it doesn't bother me it won't
catch me I am not a RAT." So the rat goes to the pig and says "Oh Mr. Pig
what am I to do I fear for my life and the lives of my family there is a RAT
TRAP set up to catch us all." The pig looked up from his place in the barn
yard and laughed "Well stupid RAT what should I care I am not a Rat I am a
pig and a Rat Trap won't catch me." Disheartened the rat then goes to the
pasture to speak to the cow and says "Oh what shall we do here there is a
RAT TRAP set up to catch me and my family and I fear we will all be killed."
The cow stopped grazing for a moment and said. "Oh, gosh I don't know I am
not a Rat I am just a cow and they are not out to get me so it is not really
my concern at all."

So with heavy heart the Rat returns to his family home inside the farm house
sobbing he tells his family that he can get no help from any one of the barn
yard animals they are not concerned about our family or our conditions.
Well, after all they are not Rats so maybe they shouldn't be.

About a week later the rat family is awaken in the middle of the night by a
loud scream coming from the farmer's wife. Upon investigating they discover
that a snake was caught in the RAT TRAP and in attempts to get the snake out
of the trap the farmer's wife was bitten by the snake. She became deathly
ill and they had to rush her to the hospital in attempts so save her life.
So while the farmer's wife was in the hospital a neighbor came by to fix a
meal for the farmer and since the neighbor knew how to fry chickens he
killed the chicken to fix the dinner for the farmer. As time went on the
farmers wife became more ill than before and the hospital bills were coming
in so the farmer had to sell the pig to the local meat market to get money
to pay the hospital bill. Finally the farmer's wife passed away from the
poison of the snake and they had to butcher the cow to sell the meat to pay
for the funeral expenses. In the mean while the farmer thru out the RAT
TRAP saying the whole idea was a bad one in the beginning and they never
should have gotten the trap in the first place. Of course the little RAT
family was sadden by the loss of the farmer's wife and all of the barn yard
animals; all because of the RAT TRAP....

===== ===== =====

Now, as individuals living in the human race at this time on the planet
earth can you see yourself in the story above? Which farm animal are you?
And what is our position of responsibility in the world today when it comes
to a RAT TRAP? Do we look at any situation and say "Oh that does not
concern me because I am not a ______." (you fill in the blank) Or can we
look at human consciousness and see that we are all a part of the whole and
what effect one part of the whole effect ALL.

Most issues of current events of the present day are not issues that started
say a week ago they have been under manifestation for years. Such as the
case of Nazi German it was not something that happened over night it took
years for the Holocaust to come to full circle. So in the case of the
leaders of the middle east conflict some have been in power for some 30
years or more. The time to take action against any oppression against
humanity is at the beginning of such action not after it has come to great
heights as we see in Iraq or the middle east right now.

Much can be accomplished at the PEACE TABLE where men and woman of reason
can sit down and talk out the differences of human society. The PEACE TABLE
is the place where MONEY and POWER are left out of the equation and LOVE AND
COMPASSION for all human kind comes to the fore front of the minds of those
in concerns.

It has been said that it takes about three generations of human evolution to
bring about change in a pattern or a way of thinking on a local level. As
always the time to start is NOW not tomorrow, next week, or next year. The
"someday" never happen really.

The conflict in the middle east is really "ON" now. The RAT TRAP is in full
operation at this time. What is it that we as Loving, Caring and
Compassionate human beings can learn from this experience? And in what way
can we teach or further instruct future generations to prevent the same
thing from happening again? In what way can we say that the first
commandment is "First Do No Harm." Can we begin to open the door way to
greater understanding between all people of the world? Letting go of the
idea of the "us" and "them" mentality and embrace all of humanity as ONE.

Let there be PEACE on Earth and let it begin with ME.

Blessings, Thomas of Kansas
