Hi Maynard. This is the Idiot (maybe not that unique). I hope to hear more
of this kind of message on any list I am on. You have expressed, in a few
simple words, some heart-felt problems and concerns. Your message has a deep
question which is obviously sincere and which obviously is generated out of
a true desire to help others. Most important of all, there is a sense of
urgency. To me the question is like an empty and quivering siver cup. If
ones stays with it long enough, eventually that question will be answered,
though eventually, in order for the cup to remain quivering, one might have
to become the cup.

The important thing to understand, for me, is that genuine inner order ( not
an order of discipline imposed by the arbitrary, subjective and reactive
thought of the conditioned mind) arises naturally out of a complete,
attentive seeing of the world and its total content, including myself, my
problems and even my questions. This order functions much like the
philosopher's stone of the ancients in that everything external to it tends
to accrue to it by organizing around it. If one person in the United States
is living by a natural order and another person in Israel is living by a
natural order, their "order" being of the same quality, adheres, each to
each, in such a way that another person in the United States who does not
live in this way and another person in Israel who does not live this way,
and anyone in between are affected by this, As if by magic, overnight, so to
speak, a "hawk" becomes a "dove," There are many complex principles behind
this, but essentially, it is a reconfiguration of material that is always
ongoing, and it is my opinion that a person with a question and a sense of
urgency will figure more into the material process of this reconfiguration
than a two year old having a tantrum, as the perceptual quality of the
question is generated out of the whole person in relationship to and a part
of the whole of everything, whereas the child having a tantrum is more
chaotic and has less to adhere to. People will align with it because they
know it is not constructive. Later the child comes to see things in this
way. Part of the process of maturing is that he discovers he cannot organize
material by this line of behavior, so he adepts (adheres) to more orderly
patterns which his own intelligence can begin to see the sense of. Maybe he
takes a big leap one day when he begins to see this, but it is only bound to
happen because people who have a greater understanding are doing the effort,
the labor of maintaining order, and constantly sacrificing the petty,
short-sighted tantrum- haver within themselves to do so. Also, when there is
a innovation, a new way of doing something that is more practical, everyone
begin to do it at once. It is almost synchronized. each by each. When a few
children begin to co-operate, the others fall into line.

When you speak of sacrifice, I do not know exactly what you mean, and I
would appreciate a clarification. In any case, it is a matter of conscience.
To me this is the single most important subject. When many people begin to
act from conscience, in a certain way, others will join in. I do not know
who is from the United States, but when the Governor of Illinois, Gov..
Ryan, abolished the death penalty, my grandson and I were fortunate to
catch his speech on t.v. He was acting on conscience. This was unmistakable,
having its own distinct material tone and quality which strikes a chord in
your own conscience when you hear it. You will never see a politician doing
this. It is very, rare. Why is this? It is because they do not learn how to
live from conscience in their own families and in the world around them. It
is not a priority for any of us. No one wants to give up his ice cream. It
is the nature of the beast. When Lucifer is intentionally harnessed in a
certain way, when we find out what conscious suffering is about, we will
have our own little devil, as well as our own little angel (rather than a
fantasy about being an angel) and then man ,being complete, will solve the
problems that exist. by aligning with others like himself in such a way that
external circumstances will fall into place. But each person will need to
work this out in the flesh. It is a matter for each individual in present
time and not about tomorrow.

If I know others are going into their day with the motivation to develop
conscience, than this helps me align in such a way that I can gather the
courage to suffer consciously. What is the effort? Each person knows what to
do at any given moment in order to develop conscience. It is most
fascinating. Sincerely, Wry.
