Hi, Bart:

Well, I have to stand my my comment. If the empire does not exist, 
which it does not, then it seems to me realistic people would be 
better advised to concern themselves with more realistic threats. 
Unfortunately there are realistic threats enough to make any of us as 
paranoid as you please. There is no question that twenty years ago 
the communist conspiracy was a source for realistic concern.

Wilhelm Reich was a psychoanalyst, which, if you look in any 
dictionary means the same thing as crackpot. Read some of his books 
sometime. They are hilarious. He built orgone generators and 
collectors and analyzed everybody;s potty training a la Freud and all 
sorts of cranky crap.

Erich Fromm, on the other hand, was also a psychoanalyst, but kept 
the cranky parts of it out of his books, which as a result were 
merely boring.

I never read Marcuse and do not expect to do so. As I grow older 
there is less time left to waste on pseudo-intellectuals such as 
Fromm and Reich et sl.
