Welcome back Larry,

Can’t keep a good man down.

I had wondered about the silence for so many weeks, but knew you’
d turn up when possible.

Try KARMA you own self-made destiny -- made by the trail of so,
so many past years and lives. Some of those causes we know and
others we can only guess at. But there has never been any active
interference by any “god,” or other external “wilful” Force. We
are not “objects“ to be trifled with. There is only LAW. One
Law which pervades all -- just as God is supposed to do in his
OMNIPRESENCE.

If God spirit is ubiquitous, then it is already INSIDE us. If we
are potential Gods, then why are we so ignorant?

If however, on the scale of developing intelligence, as the inner
IMMORTAL MONAD learns how to use all the powers and forces of
NATURE (in the UNIVERSE -- or, GOD MADE MANIFEST) there comes a
stage when the “excellence of a INSTINCT meets the excellence of
MIND, then the melding of the two produces a whirl of apparent
conflict -- as the urges of “desire” (which cannot think) are
weighed against the rational element (that knows “feeling” is
fallible by itself) that demands the application of LAW.

It is all part of the “learning process.” Mind is taught
compassion or the “Heart Doctrine, and, “emotion” is taught to
use the reasoning of the Head (within reason) or the “Head
Doctrine.” Both have to be balanced intelligently by the eternal
student-Pilgrim -- ourselves.

See of that helps and makes sense.

As to the SUN. It is a symbol of UNIVERSAL LIFE and of
immutable, generous LAW. It demands clarity, honesty and truth.
It gives life to all sinner and saint and everyone in between.
For that reason it is respected in every ancient Theogony as the
FIRST or there ONLY GOD and “darkness” is said to surround its
“pavilion.” As LIGHT-GIVER it dispels the darkness of ignorance
and all shadows.

It is also a symbol of free-will since it does this service
impartially for all. In fact it is the only evidence we have of
the total dedication of a BEING to GOD UNIVERSAL and IMPERSONAL.
[ see also S D I 207-8 to p. 210, for another BEING who does
this service for our EARTH.]

Best wishes, and glad you are back again,

Dal

Dear Friends,

First, let me say, that it's good to "be back." I have missed
your fellowship over the past several months. I am now settled in
a new location and have computer access from the local library
where I am a trustee, so will be able to participate on a limited
scale. Better than nothing. A few comments to the below:

Not everyone would agree that the "gods" have no free will. In my
Mormon experience it was taught that a "god" (a progressed human)
could indeed "fail", by making a "wromg" moral choice, and he
would then "cease to be God"

What I wonder is just what alternatives to free will are there?
Such as the Calvinist notion of predestination or the
materialistic concepts of random chaos. Could we brainstorm and
come up with a list of these ideas and then compare and contrast
them and find theosophic arguements to support or deny their
credibility? Just a thought.

Larry
What I say is my personal understanding, I trust it is based on
all these
years of training, but each person got to answer this eternal
problem
independently. See my comments below. Etzion

You mean the world of dualism. It is as we were taught, the
setting *God*
has created in order to learn who is He. We obviously can see a
state of
ignorance and wisdom. Free will, to my view, belongs to
ignorance. Does God,
who is infinite wisdom, since He created our bodies with the
perfect
precision to the last atom, has free will? If we choose to be
naughty, as we
do so well in ignorance, can He stop loving us? He cannot. That's
why He is
*God*. He has no free will. The sun, which to my unde! rstanding
is the symbol
of God, shines its blessing on all without any discrimination. It
has no
free will. The hint in the Bible is to join Godhood, where free
will is not;
and suffering is not. <mailto:not.@blavatsky.net>
