Re: Theos-World The Fountain Source of Modern Theosophy: Concerning H.P. Blavatsky's Unique Status as Direct Agent of the Masters

In this context, it would appear that "modern times" started with the birth
of HPB and referred to the society in which she was born and the language she
used to write about her contact with the Adepts, as well as the people,
ignorant of the mysteries, she was writing it for. At that time, the Middle East
was, at least to Western civilization, a backwater only to be colonized -- even
though it may have already been, at some levels of its civilization, already
enlightened and/or knowledgeable of the mysteries -- such as the Sufis and the
Hebrew Kabbalists, among others.
