Perhaps it would be fair to say that besides (or even because the
of) the inevitable backlash is a new dispensation, a raising of the
vibration of the whole, which could continue to resonate like a
tidal wave, rearranging forever the old order, which, after all, is
on the way out.

Not too fanciful if one considers that each generation inevitably
reacts to the imbalances of the previous one. To put it in
simplistic terms, we've seen an alternation between idealistic and
materialistic generations in the US in my lifetime. Being part of
the idealistic wave of Baby Boomers, I've been dismayed by the
materialism and conservatism of the Gen X wave. But now the under-
25 group is the most liberal on many issues according to recent
survey results. I don't mean just political liberalism but rather
the broader outlook that embraces pluralism. That was key to the
spiritual questing of recent decades; now the growing spiritual
movements are the most conservative e.g. Pentecostalism. But there
is always a seed of hope in situations that evoke despair. TV gets
worse and worse steadily, but books and movies have been holding
ground in terms of quality and quantity.

The light does seem to have flickered and faded in the last 5-10
years for movements like Theosophy and ARE which are seen
as "alternative." But there could be another wave of interest ahead
as another generation emerges with its own priorities and needs.

Best wishes,

Paul
