RE: Theos-World Mary Magdalene

Dear Hassan,

About the fame of Mary Magdalene to be a prostitute
most probably has its roots on the city called
Magdala. As Jesus was identified as a Nazarene (from
the town of Nazareth), Mary Magdalene was from
Magdala.

Magdala was the city where Mary was born. The Talmud
mentions that Magdala was a city characterized by its
wealth and depravity.

Blavatsky in the commentaries of the Pistis Sophia,
(Collected Writings) made some comments about Mary
Magdalene, also in the THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD,
[Lucifer, Vol. VIII, No. 44, April, 1891, pp.
170-173.].

I have also other references but all of them very
short. In the Mahatma Letters also we may find a short
analogy. What I am trying to find out is if there is
anything deeper on the subject.

In general lines what researches mention on the
subject, is that there was an antagonism between Peter
and Mary, and slowly the teachings of Mary were
disregarded. But everything indicates that Mary indeed
was one of the greatest disciples of Jesus, not a
lover as some say. Yes the gospel of Mary is very
similar to eastern teachings.

Best regards,
