Emptiness

Hi,

Thanks for the link, in buddhist discussions I've come across the term
'storehouse consciousness' and this is a good explanation of it. But
it is not related at all to the (Mahayana) Buddhist subject of
sunnyata. As I have studied that in some detail, I'll try to explain a
bit.

Sunnyata is roughly maya (in explaining this to theosophists anyhow).
So in that sense at least it is mentioned by HPB. Sunnyata properly
understood is also the insight that nothing exists seperately, that
everything (including mind, personality, emotions, the body, this
computer I'm typing on etc) is dependent on other things. This is one
of the ways in which one can explain the underlying unity HPB spoke
about. So sunnyata isn't absent from HPB, she just doesn't use the
word in this sense. To complicate matters she does use the word
sunnyata (as far as I can tell wrongly) in the sense of 'space'. This
also leads one to the conclusion that it is linked to the sense of
inner unity of everything.

[the above is very much an explanation of the term sunnyata for
theosophists. From a buddhist perspective the following link may be
interesting: http://www.katinkahesselink.net/tibet/void.htm ]
