Thank you for correcting me. I had in mind a statement of Gandhi, 
which I cannot trace, to one of his close associates during 
Partition in which he acknowledged that something had gone wrong. 
His message of secularism, on the other hand, may be directly 
responsible for the strength of post-independence India, a message 
that the BJP and RSS tried very hard to deny and suppress.
