Thanks Steve, very helpful and I also found in the Jain literature.
The Holy Death (saniekhana) well ordered voluntari chosen death while in ultra pure meditation and complete awareness. It takes from 30 -120 days, not suicide, but the conscious benevelent choice to leave for the greater good of all.
