Allright.
Allright, I agree.

Yes.

1. Quest books.

The website read the following today:
"
About Quest

Vision & History
Quest Books is the imprint of the Theosophical Publishing House, the publishing arm of the Theosophical Society in America. This organization, with 150 branches nationwide, is part of the International Theosophical Society founded in New York in 1875 with present headquarters in Adyar, Madras, India."

I searched "Leadbeater". And I counted 27 different books of C. W. Leadbeater (CWL), which can officially be bought at Quest books.
And I know, that Adyar at least a few years back sold and shipped "Man: Whence how and Whither" when asked.

2. Theosophical Society Canada - the "TS online books place" if any:
Here is online almost 20 books with Leadbeater as author at the Canadian Theosophical Society:
http://www.theosophical.ca/OnLineDocs.htm
Their list of books to read for beginners have CWL's books among them:
http://www.theosophical.ca/SuggestedReadings.htm
(The book named "Man: Whence, How and Whither" is included as a reference book.)

3. Here is the odd book "Man: Whence how and Whither" online - linked at the Australian Theosophical Society:
http://www.austheos.org.au/clibrary/bindex-1.html --- http://www.tphta.ws/CWL_MWHW.HTM (A website hosted On Samoa near New Zealand)

4. TS Adyar and books by CWL at the bottom on "Fundamentals of Theosophy":
http://www.ts-adyar.org/theosophy.html

5. Fair is fair:
Theosophical Society America at their online "Media Library" has also a online video which perhaps more clearly show its present offical stance on CWL:
--- The Theosophical Society in America: An Illustrated History: 1875-2000 ---
http://www.theosophicalinstitute.org/medialibrary/viewtitle.php?titleid=B26DD187-6333-11D6-9AE9-003048223922
(If the link is broken search the above title in the searchbox at Media Library at the main TS America website.)

I think this is enough.

On Steiner I would definitely say no, although he had some influence.
Bailey was not really an influential member when she got thrown out was she?
I was considering influential on an absolute, world-wide basis.

There is nobody in the Theosophical Society today who has a position
that even remotely compares to the position that Leadbeater had.

My answer:
Perhaps. But, How do you know? -
Perhaps the fact that the TS is NOT promoting the books of any current,
living writer?

One sign against this view is, that They havn't aborted promoting his books
in TS. Books, which beginners read and when they do - they because of that
connects their minds with the authors mind (including his shadow), and
sometimes the authors mind at the time he wrote the book they read.
It also depends on, what kind of position you are talking about.
I just looked at the Theosophical Society in America website, and the
Adyar website. Leadbeater is not recommended at all as a beginners'
source, and barely mentioned at all. In the Adyar site, I admit that in
the recommended reading list, there are two books by him out of about
14. I hardly call that "promoting his books." Can you document such
promotion as you describe?

Bart
