There are various stages in the process of acceptance when someone that is respected is shown to have feet of clay. Recently on this list it has happened to CWL. First there is denial, then anger and finally acceptance. One has only to look at former president Clinton. In the past on this list it has happened to HPB with several scholars discussing her life. Even one discussion on magic which would explain the "precipitated" letters. Those who would not get past denial were labeled with the pejorative term "fundamentalists". We have moved on, yet it was every bit as emotional as the current one on CWL.

My philosophy is to accept those things which are helpful in my life and discard the rest, which in CWL case is 80 to 90 per cent junk. There is no substitute for critical thinking and no one can do it for you.
