Cass,

Thank you for your thoughts. Although my journey was not
necessarily restful, it was productive.
The manner in which I am using the term non-linear is to represent
that which not based in and of the physical realm or plane. Linear
would represent the physical in the same regard.
In presenting a non-linear law of karma, it would be the
presenting of a personal perspective. The law of merit and demerit
is a linear law and is "waiting at the threshold of the next
incarnation", as HPB words it. An example of a non-linear law
of karma would be the law of forgiveness. This law is not
action / event based in the physical realm. There is that which is
referred to as karma attachment. Forgiveness is a cause in which
has an effect of the releasement of a certain karmic attachment.
If one keeps in mind the concept of a hierarchy, of the process of
Involution, then it may be seen that the higher planes or level of
existence have an influence of that which would be considered
lower. Creation experiences an Involution process. So does
Karmic Law. The lower planes are the reflections and
differentiations of the higher. Karmic Law on the lower would
be the reflections and differentiations of the "higher" Karmic Law.
HPB speaks about a One Immutable Law of Karma. In thinking
about a cause of karma, HPB refers to the "germ" in which all
karma has as it's origin. This would be prior to the states of
Involution of which we are presently experiencing.
In your statement, "one imagines we were born karmically
virginal", there can be seen truth in it. For example : That which
has just been born into the physical realm, has no physical
karma attachments or effects. Once in the physical enviroment,
the guiding physical laws (karma) are experienced. This
would apply to the astral and mental as well. One may entertain
the line of thought in which the "birthing" into the physical can
be a cause originating in the astral. At this time though, no
physical karma is in existence for the individual until after the
birthing takes place. If that in which you referred to as
original sin is initiated on the astral, then it will be also
completed on the astral as well.

Dear Zakk
Hope your sojourn was restful. In response to your posting, I have been reading that (please allow for misinterpretations,) that our Karma (back in the third root race) started in the Astral with what the Christians call, original sin. It had something to do with the formation of our Astral bodies by the Pitris. When the mind born refused to incarnate into the gross bodies. Somehow their fall was our fall and we inherited Karma. I am not taking this as gospel, but it is an interesting study as if we were born pure of spirit, one imagines we were born karmically virginal.

So with this theory in mind, our astral body will accumulate karma as an effect of the original sin. But you say this is non-linear. How do we bring this original sin karma into equilibrium especially if it is non-linear?

I am tripping over my words here, but I think what I am basically asking is how did Karma ( be it laws or otherwise) begin. What was the first cause?

And isn't emotional karma (our desires) and mental karma (our thoughts) linked to the physical (actions) so the linear connection is established while the self is incarnated in the physical.

Can you give me an example of non-linear karma generated in our astral and mental states. Non-linear to me means that there is no connection between cause and effect.<

Cass
