One cannot be surprised if the general line followed all over the world
over a long period of time may be that any cooperation with branches of
other theosophical organizations is to be avoided.

====================================================

DTB	Then, what of Brotherhood? Is that to be given up? It is the FIRST
OBJECT.

Individuals can always cooperate. No organization publishes a list of "
thou shalt not..." unless it claims to be a "religion." In which case, the
independent enquirer, checks that list with any comprehensive list of ethics
and virtues.

It is the "principles on which the "Branches" are now functioning, (and in
many cases overburdened with serious mistakes of past judgment) that make
organizational frictions.

Tolerance is needed on matters of accuracy and truth and not on matters of
conflict and continued divergence. So long as anyone is rigid, there will
be conflict and divergence. We cannot reverse history, but we can reverse
our attitude towards it. If one observes carefully, there is a tendency in
most of us to "defend" our previous position -- even if it was wrong. Is
that necessary ?

MKR
If we research HISTORY we will find the source and cause for such divisions
and then they can be repaired.

This is borne de facto by the lack of any report of any cooperation or
networking even when the branches are in close proximity in various cities.
Even in this list, while there may be lurkers who may be reading these
messages and may be reluctant to come out and openly comment on this
delicate issue as there may be
economic and other reasons holding them back. So more and more I see what
is going on, I think in due course in today's Internet world of
communications, organizations' role may get limited to passive publishing
of materials and even that may end due to most publications going out of
copyright.

Even as civilizations have come and disappeared, one should not
be surprised if the existing organizations run out of steam due natural
course of events.

=======================================

DTB	I notice that every new civilization is built on the shoulders of
the older ones. There may be loss of technical "know-how," but the basics
and fundamentals are all rediscovered in due course. Those never entirely
disappear.

And interestingly enough, if we preserve and illustrate the basics, then a
succeeding civilisation can rebound quicker.

What and where is a list of such essentials? Food, water, shelter,
clothing, mutual assistance, healing ?

If we look at THEOSOPHY and at its several vehicles, what do we find ?

What are the basics?
