Five Elements and Five Senses

To the Theosophical Pundits:

I am trying to study the relationship between the five elements and
the five senses. In Diagram V in Blavatsky: Collected Writings,
Vol XII, pp 661. ( Apology for not knowing how to send the
link .) Leaving out other columns, the tabulation for the senses
and elements is as follows:

Elements	Senses	Organs of Sensation

1.	Earth	Smell	Nose
2.	Water	Taste	Tongue
3.	Air	Sight	Eyes
4.	Fire	Touch	Organ of excretion
5.	Ether	Hearing	Ears

6.	Divine Flame Jnana	Astral Body
and Heart

7.	Akasa	The Highest	The Light of Kundalini
Synthesis Sense

My questions are:

1.	The correspondence for Air – Sight – Eyes does not make sense
to me. I would think Fire is closer to sight than air. Am I
missing something?

2.	The correspondence for Fire – Touch – Organ of excretion also
makes no sense. Why organ of excretion? Also, I would think that
touch is closer air.

3.	And the Astral Body and Heart for the Divine Flame? Is HPB
using the word astral in a different way?

4.	I would think that Hearing comes before Sight, but this not how
it is tabulated.

I appreciate any light on this,

barbara
