First, he was the best writer. His books may be garbage, but they are 
entertaining garbage, unlike the turgid, barely readable prose of his contemporaries.

Second, his portraits are those of someone who has a sort of cherubic joy 
about him, unlike the dour image one gets from everyone else. Leadbeater comes 
across as someone you would want as a neighbor, while the rest of them look 
like they have lived too long on prune juice and dill pickles.

And of course this only applies to Theosophists. Other occultists just think 
he was a funny old man who died long ago.
