RE: Theos-World Re: God and the brute

Dear Dallas

"The God within begins with Manas or Mind, and it is the struggle between this God and
the brute with Theosophy speaks of and warns about." W.Q.Judge

Unfortunately, thaprin, misquoted what I was saying, by cut and pasting my name to her statement "This is a false statement", or something to that effect. I suggested that Thalprin take up her notion that this statement was false with Mr.Judge and not with me, as it completely agrees with my thinking.

In truth, what Judge said, was absolutely spot on in regard to my studies of The Dweller on the Threshold.

There seems to be a 24-36 hour delay in my postings and when you receive them which I think is compounding the issue, and also my syntax doesnt help.

"The Dweller" can be interpreted in several ways, the struggle between the Higher Self and Lower Self, the kosmic battle between the Angel of the Presence and The Dweller on the Threshold, the reunion with past selves on the astral.

So, we are in agreement on one or another interpretation.
Regards
Cass

Dear Cass:

May I ask if you could quote the sentence on p. 49 of the OCEAN OF THEOSOPHY

I read through it and found nothing strikingly "FALSE".

May be a different understanding of words used?

But let me know if you have time.

Dear John,
This sentence needs to be read in context. It was suggested by Thalprin
that the statement W.Q.Judge made on Page 49 of Oceans of Theosophy was
false. It was in relation to the Dweller on the Threshold. "The God within
begins with Manas or Mind, and it is the struggle between this God and the
brute with Theosophy speaks of and warns about.

The statement "Why study something you (thalprin) say is a false statement.

The above subject (struggle between God and the brute) cannot be studied but
experienced, I am sure you understand that. As you know I am currently
studying, in depth, the Dweller on the Threshold, so that I do have an
understanding of the theosophical principles involved.

Regards
Cass

When you study something that is false, you can still learn from it.

For example, I know that Adolf H. had false beliefs, but I would not let
that stop me from trying to understand him. One way to understand him is
to read his words. (Though I haven't read any of his words yet, except
those that appear in OTHER places.)

One way to understand your enemies is to read and/or study his words.
Doing so might help you understand your own beliefs better.

Studying does not mean you agree.

Besides, if we were to make it a rule to never study something that is
false, we'd have to stop studying American History textbooks, because
they are loaded with falsehoods and omissions, though not as bad as in
some countries. Just look at the current controversy about Japanese
history texts. Some Chinese are boycotting because the new Japanese
texts don't even mention some of the Japanese atrocities like their
occupation of China.
