Re: Theos-World More common sense Re: Amand's "BESANT was real founder of TS. HPB's role was only symbolic"

Dear Cass,
You have to be careful, then, how you distinguish quoting yourself or someone
else in letters sent through an open forum. And, sometimes, a sarcasm can be
misconstrued if not properly attributed or in proper context. Obviously, I
misinterpreted your sarcastic response to Anand -- since, the way you
structured your reply to his letter, it appeared that you were quoting him directly.
In fact I cut and pasted your quote of his original letter directly in my
response -- since, due to the high volume of postings recently, I'm still more than
two weeks behind and had missed his original post... Although, as there are
still certain threads I am following and writers I read on this forum, I am
still bogged down with over 500 back letters to read from various other forums.)

In any event, I try to write all my own letters with the idea that everyone,
including the lurkers, reads them... And, therefore, each reader must have a
clear knowledge of the preceding thread so as to follow and understand the gi
st of the discussion or argument. In addition, I think every letter one writes
on a public forum should offer something of value (in the context of the
group purpose) to those of lesser knowledge -- whether it's in reply to a
statement of someone else or a new idea introduced for purposes of discussion.
Obviously, some people don't care about this, and a lot of junk mail is coming
through that wastes everybody's time and energy. :-(

As for Anand, I know that nothing anyone says will make him change his blind
beliefs in his chosen High Priests, New Age religion, and proselytizing
propaganda ways, or his thinking that AB and CWL's pseudo theosophy is true
theosophy. So, my letters to him are just meant to clear up for others the illogic
and unreasonableness of his assertions -- so they won't be misled... Without my
getting too cute, sardonic, sarcastic or using arguments of an ad hominem
nature -- that, IMO, are negative ways of group discussion and leads to
misconceptions by the reader who comes in late on a thread and doesn't know what's
going on. (Although sometimes, I can't help replying tit for tat, myself, when
someone pulls such stunts on me or those I'm defending. Guess none of us are
perfect. :-)

Best wishes,

Len
