Hallo Anand and all,

My views are:

If one uses the definition of the word "sect" in its uttermost sense,
one will reach the conclusion that any organisation which is physical
can be called a sect.

But, the fact is, that theosophical teachings forms a non-physical
activity.

The theosophist is not clinging to any author in particular.
We use in the literature what we find to be of value.

"We cull the good we find in each" - book, teaching, lecture etc.
And we do not promote false teachings, so to damage the true teachings.
We do not require one culture or religion to be given more credit than another
- even not the Christian religion, or perhaps especially that one !

There is no religion higher than TRUTH.
Theosophy is no religion and therefor eno sect.
What we call a physical organisation naming it self "The Theosophical Society" or not -
OR even theosophists who promotes one religion more than another to be listened to - is another matter,
which the readers can dig out for themselves.

And this is a friendly comment and suggestion:
Anand I think you understand me.
So stop wearing that silly LCC hat.
:-)

M. Sufilight with peace and love...

Subject: Theos-World Sect in the Theosophical Society

This passage shows how sect was formed in the TS and it exists even now.

Short History of the Theosophical Society by Josephine Ransom, 1989
print, page 286

" The President (H.S. Olcott) felt inspired to begin writing Old Diary
Leaves, 16 th January, partly to put on record the early history of The
Society, and partly because he felt he must do something to prevent a
sect " springing up around H.P.B. and her literature" "
