Dear Kathy:

May I use your response below for some additional observations?

I have little time. Just got back from hospital. Sorry f or delay in
answering.

As ever and always,

Dallas

-----------------------------------------------

K
Dallas wrote, "For instance, if the evidence of the Astral Light and of
Astral Matter -- as underlying patterns of electro-magnetic force --
linking atoms and molecules into structures, were employed, much more could
be explained. And vast improvements on psychological matters in living
human beings could be achieved.

K
You are so right on the mark with this one Dallas. How does science
explain the phenomenon of underlying patterns of electro-magnet force, if
they cannot see or record it? Do they base their findings on "something
within the atomic structure that allows it to appear and disappear as it
will?"

------------------------------

DTB	They speculate vainly.

The single factor missing is the concept of the immortality and eternity of
the "life-atom." This the psychology of entirety -- the living Universe is
a "harmony of diverse units." Let THEOSOPHY explain:

Theosophy posits:

1	UNIVERSAL UNITY (unlimited in time space and awareness.)
considered as 7 x 7 = 49 + 1 -- principles or faculties, each at its own
particular stage of development within every Monad .

2	Coexistent UNITS each with identical potential, but needing
experience to develop voluntary respect and self limitation by means of
VIRTUE. [WISDOM - BUDDHI], to live in harmony with all the rest. [every
atom, human, globe, galaxy, is one of these diversified units and each
struggles over an immensity of time to develop a compassionate view of
universal harmony and purpose.]

3	VIRTUE means to acknowledge a community of indestructible
brother-units (named MONADS). All having the same rights and privileges but
differing in experience. A single unbreakable LAW provides throughout the
Universe immutable fairness, WISDOM AVAILABLE, safeguard of existence and an
ideal tolerance which can be called Universal "sensitivity." This the
single old path to Buddhahood and Mahatmaship.

4	SENSITIVITY is total and instantaneous transmission of events in
detail to all MONADS so they can record and take note of changes -- to us
this appears to be an extension of electro-magnetic phenomena. But as the
whole Universe responds, so does the effect of our choices and acts rebound
ultimately on us. This is called in general KARMA. [The common recording
receptor is called AKASA -- there -- the real history of all units is
impacted eternally, however immense, ancient, large or small they may be.
Every Monad is a
"Lipika." KARMA implies the total and simultaneous adjustments needed t
include all decisions made on an independent basis by any monad anywhere.
The future is thus inscribed by each Monad as it lives and proceeds. ]

This is how their real UNIVERSE is united. It is both sub-physical
and supra-physical. Every "life-atom" is an essential link.

4	MONADS: Each of these eternal units is both bi-and tri-polar.

BIPOLAR is the sense of (1) perfect purity and wisdom placed in
contrast and proximity to desires passions and yens of a selfish and
isolationist nature. It is UNITY vs. DIVERSITY. This proximity is
educational in intent.

TRIPOLAR in the sense that (1) PURITY OF THE ONE UNIT is
contrasted with (2) the infinite diversity of selfish desires that can
infest the many "units," and both of these are perceived by MIND (Soul ?)
which perceives the difference between them.

5	MIND or SOUL, is the immortal Self that reincarnates using many
bodies. These "bodies" are composed of "monads of lesser experience." They
are like a school of pupils assembled around a singe MASTER MONAD . They
are impressed by the quality of the MIND that makes choices, which is to
say, "our self-conscious Self" (we call it Mind) . [The MIND serves thus,
as a link or bond between the PURITY OF THE UNIVERSAL and the follies and
evils of the many UNITS that have not reached the "point of universal mental
perception."]

5	MIND is therefore dual. There is the (1) "Wise-Mind"
(Buddhi-Manas), and there is the (2) "Selfish Desire and 'Foolish' "Mind"
(Kama-Manas).

Our physical Universe is at the bottom of the scale of development, and our
Mind is occupies tithe rules and laws of matter. We begin to sense in the
concept of the astral the underlying sensitive unity that places every
"life-atom" at its appropriate place all the time.

This implies a cooperative system where wisdom, law and knowledge reign
fearlessly and imperatively with others without any coercion exerted upon
any other. The duty of the "Eternal Pilgrim," the Mind-Monad is to learn
this system and then adopt it as a rule of self-directed harmless and
brotherly living.

The system works on several planes

1	Highest is PURITY [SATTVA] SPIRITUAL UNITY OF ALL.

Principles: ATMA , BUDDHI, JIVA (life currants)

2	Middle is ACTION [KARMA or RAJAS] -- DUALITY: a knowledge and
power to choose motives: -- good and evil.

Principles: MANAS (mind) and KAMA (selfish desire & passions)

3	Bottom is INERTIA [TAMAS] -- resistance to change, desire for
continued life in the present body, desire for pleasure, enjoyment and lack
of any responsibility. This is impossible, and death or dispersal of the
components of the organism terminates this. Karma ensures reincarnation.

Principles: ASTRAL BODY and PHYSICAL BODY.

K
I believe that Initiation is a gradual unfoldment of the self, working from
the physical (mental and emotional) to the supra-physical. My hypothesis is
that we have to do the work on the physical ourselves, but when that is
conquered or understood, we get help, in the form of a higher intelligence,
to walk us through the supra physical.

------------------------------------------------

DTB	I think you' express this correctly.

WE (who have to do the work) are non-physical MIND

As it acquires WISDOM it is gradually initiated by the resident Tutor -- the
ATMA (also called the Higher Self) .

That which has to be conquered is selfishness, resident in Personality and
dominated by Kama. Kama has to be shown that it is its own enemy. Living
by rules of virtue not only purifies it, but perpetuates its highest and
best aspects. [see in T Glos KAMADEVA -- explains what the truly purified
KAMA is, and can do. [ Manas then becomes "Great," and a new MAHATMA is
born. See last 4 pages of The VOICE OF THE SILENCE ]

Best wishes,

Dallas
