Are we forgetting that HPB said there are more things hidden in the SD than are stated. In regard to the above, I believe you are correct Frank, as she would often write under HPB and under H.P.Blavatsky. The reason being that as one she spoke as herself and as the other the masters spoke through her. Perhaps this is easier accomplished in the male form, the masters, having to make "adjustments" to HPB's principles.

My intuition tells me that HPB was able to continue with her work because she was more or less androgonyne and even though many claim her as being lesbian, I believe this not to be the case, as she was clearly an Initiate, and certainly in control of her sexuality. The masters stated that HPB, although not perfect, was the best there was at the time, to continue the work. For the west I believe she was perfect as she had the female form with male characteristics. She was not in the classical sense regarded as a beauty and this also would have allowed her to get on with the work in hand rather than spend countless efforts avoiding male suitors.

I was drawn to Theosophy because HPB was a woman, and feel sure that without her heading the ship, I would have thought that theosophy was just another guru cult coming out of India.
