Dane Rudhyar was best known as a modernist composer and humanistic
astrologer. He was the pioneer of modern psychological astrology, and
he wrote dozens of books on the subject during his lifetime…His
musical thought was influenced by Henri Bergson and Theosophy

Alexander Scriabin Many of Scriabin's works are written for the piano;
the earliest pieces resemble Frederic Chopin and include music in many
forms that Chopin himself employed, such as the etude, the prelude and
the mazurka… Scriabin, previously interested in Friedrich Nietzsche's
übermensch theory, also became interested in theosophy, and both would
influence his music and musical thought. In 1909-1910 he lived in
Brussels, becoming interested in Delville's Theosophist movement and
continuing his reading of Madame Blavatsky (Samson 1977).

Ruth Crawford-Seeger (July 3, 1901 in East Liverpool, Ohio - November
18, 1953 in Chevy Chase, Maryland), born Ruth Porter Crawford, was a
modernist composer. Initially influenced by Alexander Scriabin, in the
twenties and early thirties Crawford-Seeger wrote atonal works based
on the music of Schoenberg, her teacher then husband Charles Seeger's
dissonant counterpoint, and methods of her own devising .

William Butler Yeats (June 13, 1865 – January 28, 1939) was an Irish
poet, dramatist, mystic and public figure. Yeats was one of the
driving forces behind the Irish Literary Revival and was co-founder of
the Abbey Theatre. Yeats had a life-long interest in mysticism,
spiritualism, and astrology. In 1885, he and some friends formed the
Dublin Hermetic Order. This society held its first meeting on June 16,
with Yeats in the chair. The same year, the Dublin Theosophical lodge
was opened with the involvement of Brahmin Mohini Chatterjee. Yeats
attended his first séance the following year. Later, Yeats became
heavily involved with hermeticist and theosophical beliefs…

L. Frank Baum was an American author and theosophist. The creator of
one of the most popular books ever written in American children's
literature, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. In 1897 he become a member of
the Theosophical Society, after which he remained a devout
Theosophist. He frequently incorporated Theosophical themes and
symbols into his fiction.

Maria Montessori She was visiting in India when World War II broke out
and prevented her from returning to Italy. She was interned in Adyar,
India, for six years and forced to slow her busy life to the tempo of
that Indian city - which just happened to house the international
headquarters of the Theosophical Society. It was also this war
experience and her interest to theosophy that drew Montessori to press
for peace education above all else.

Wilhelm Hubbe-Schleiden Founder of the first German Theosophical
Society at Elberfeld in July 1884. Editor of the "Die Sphinx", one of
the most powerful advocates of the Germanic occult revival, its
publication ceases in 1895.

C. Jinarajadasa Mr. JINARAJADASA was born in (1875-1953)Ceylon, of
Sinhalese Buddhist parents. When 13 years old he met Mr. C. W.
Leadbeater, then in Ceylon as Colonel Olcott's representative
supervising the affairs of the Buddhist Theosophical Society and the
educational movement for which it was responsible. After a strangely
affecting experience he accompanied Mr. Leadbeater to England, there
to be tutored by him, together with Mr. Sinnett's son. He met Madame
Blavatsky...
