No, Adobe PDF, WordPerfect, Word, Publisher, etc. are limited in this
respect because:
1. They can not dynamically search content of the book, utilizing an
internet connection and local database, in order to pull up
cross-referenced material to present to the reader.
2. They are limited in providing interactivity to the reader, by
allowing him to download similar books, search for other books, or
seeing the book in full 3D (this would be particularly interesting for
analyzing detail on first edition copies and such).
3. They do not have a built-in dictionary for Theosophical and Occult reference.
4. They do not have the capacity to search through mutiple
documents/articles/books to find material on a particular subject.

etc..

That's why you would need a special application to do this.
