No Problem Being a Jew

Dear Steve,

Thanks for your testimony.

It seems to me rhere is no problem in being a Jew -- but if there is one, it is fundamentally up to the Jews, I believe, to determine it.

It is true that the Jewish nation is, in part, under the religious influence of rabbi who use hate as a method. Yet the same can be said of Islamic extremists, and Christian Hindu extremists (one of whom killed Mohandas Gandhi, for instance, "comdemned" to death for wanting peace with Islamists in India).

That's why the Prayag Letter is so important!

Yet those fanatical priests are but a minority in thir peoples and nations.

Religious Jews and the followers of Islam and the Bible are no better or worse people than the rest of humanity.

Except for one thing, perhaps.

Having barely escaped a long-standing systematic persecution which finally aimed at their final extinction in the 1930s and 1940s, Jewish people are still entitled to our special solidarity -- as long the nightmare of anti-semitism is a danger.

Every people, nation or person which is the object of systematic hatred is entitled to our solidarity.

That includes the Palestine people, who should be taught about universal brotherhood.

Best regards, Carlos.

Carlos

Of course there is a problem with being a Jew. I was raised as one, and upon encountering thoughtful people and thoughtful texts, in my early twentys, it became clear to me that I had a problem with myself as a Jew. I mean, Jews are as vindictive a people as there is on this globe. So, a youngster either finds the self-riteousness to justify this behavior in himself, or finds his or herself in a deep quandery. One which will lead to philosphical freedom. But this similar to Damodar's thought in "Casts in India", an article I found personally very useful.
This is obviously a razor's edge, because Judaism has its roots in the Kabbala. But this is because all so-called Semitic religions so, based in the 5 books of Moses called the Pentateuch, Old Testiment, or the Torah, as they are. So the problem is not Judaism per say, it is people and the way they lazily interpret it, that, and the way they raise their kids. Well, that's how they were raised, so they perpetuate a myth within a myth, based in kabbalisitic mysteries.
New people coming to this list might resonate with my feelings, regardless of the tradition they were raised in.
