Another  good one is the "Tablets of the Law" Moses brought down and 
shattered to  pieces in a tantrum. Or in India how a Yoga was told to climb 
to the 
top  of Mahadeva Mountain to obtain the Siva Sutra's carved by God on the 
rock  
face up there. 



My point exactly.
 
Lacking physical evidence, we have to go on what accounts we can find and  
recognize that they are not always reliable.  For example, we can be pretty  
sure that Socrates existed but we have no reason to believe that what Plato  
attributes to him is anything but pure Plato.
